Born Amy Jade Winehouse in London, England, she shot to stardom with her multiple Grammy Award winning 2006 album Back to Black. Her powerful contralto vocals and her strong and unique style made her a muse for fashion designers as well as a leader among her fellow female musicians and soul singing contemporaries.
Unfortunately, fame wore hard on the brilliant yet troubled singer, and she died in her London home this weekend at the young age of 27. She left behind a legacy of powerful, soulful music and a stronge sense of style – she will be greatly missed….
